Welcome to Our Region

True North is a concept that grew out of an existing regional education experiment called The Northeast Higher Education District. A group of technical and community colleges and a regional university center in an area of Minnesota called, the Arrowhead, have joined together under one President and governance structure to more effectively serve the life long learning needs of the people of this region.

The mission of True North is to ensure that northeast Minnesota remains a viable place to live, learn, work and grow. In just two years this all-inclusive alignment strategy has attracted national attention. When asked to describe the reasons for this humbling notoriety, President Joe Sertich replies, "It just is an idea that makes sense right here, right now."
